The lower the moisture content of the air flowing into your system, the lower the risk of moisture damage such as rust, reduced oil quality and insufficient lubrication - which is why we fill our adsorbers with GIEBEL Xdry®. 


The mixture combines the strengths of two high-performance desiccants useing the high water absorption capacity and the high-contrast color indicator of silica gel orange-green as well as the strong binding energy of molecular sieve 13X to polar substances. It outperformes air dryers filled with pure silica gel in terms of drying performance and when used at high temperatures or low humidity levels.

How it works.

The two desiccants contained in GIEBEL Xdry®, orange-green silica gel and molecular sieve 13X, adsorb moisture in different ways. 


Silica gel absorbs moisture physically, with water molecules attaching themselves to the surface and pores of the silicon dioxide due to Van der Waals forces. In this case, intermolecular attractive forces are responsible for binding moisture.  


Molecular sieve absorbs moisture through selective adsorption, whereby water molecules are bound due to their size and polarity. This adsorption is stronger than with silica gel and also works at low humidity levels and high temperatures.
